I've been strongly considering moving to Indianapolis but I'm concerned that I may not be able to get DSL or Cable Internet in most areas. How good is the high speed coverage thoughout Indianapolis? Is it overly expensive and slow? This is a major aspect of moving to a more populated area (coming from a place where 24k connections are the only option.)
Also... What areas of Indianapolis are most urban? I would like to be able to walk to most places like Walmart, Best Buy, Mcdonalds, etc?

Re: Highspeed Internet?
Mon, August 1, 2005 - 7:38 AMIndianapolis isn't very conducive to walking anywhere... there are a couple of areas where there are apt complexes near shopping areas, Castleton and College Park come to mind...
Castleton - tinyurl.com/beww9
College Park - tinyurl.com/czfj2
As for Broadband access... Most places in Indianapolis itself are going to have access to DSL and/or Cable. I have cable access through Comcast. I don't do any gaming or anything, but when I'm downloading music and such it goes pretty fast... I'm not sure what other providers there are...

Re: Highspeed Internet?
Wed, August 10, 2005 - 11:23 AMI'm with Comcast, and for $39 or $49, I can't remember which, I have high speed internet (384kbit up, 4mbit down), and for $10 more I'm at 768kbit up and 6mbit down.
Brighthouse is not as fast, but I hear the service is just as good in other measures.
Oh, and it's big here. Bring a car. The distance to Walmart might only be moderate, but it's not a walk you'll want to take with 6 bags of groceries.
