Anyhow, I think some of y'all should take on the project as well. Obviously there is still a problem with not recycling at major events.

Hello folks! Today I'm bringing you a way to help out those who are a little less fortunate than you may find yourself this day. A friend and fellow burner (Beth, the gal at the end of this e-mail...she SO rocks) works for The Campbell County Neighborhood Center of Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission and they've been trying out something new. They've changed their pantry to include more options, healthier food choices, and are looking to offer even MORE choices with some help. They're even starting up a series of classes that cover real-life skills, such as sewing, cooking, budgeting, and more. They rely on donations of all sorts, from the drop off to the monetary.

I'd also like to remind those no where near Kentucky (though you can always help from afar) that there are pantries similar to this one across the country helping those that need that little extra boost to make it by and that it's donations from people like us, that can make a HUGE difference in someone else's life. Every little bit helps.

Read more below, visit their site to make a donation, or to see what they've got going on. I think that they're on to something down there in Campbell County!

><><><><><><><><><><><><><

The food pantry at the Campbell County Neighborhood Center of Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission (www.nkcac.org) has undergone an amazing transformation. Over the last year, the pantry has changed from a traditional pantry to a client choice model based off of the food pyramid (www.mypyramid.gov).

As the Rainbow of Choice pantry, we are dedicated to helping our families become and stay healthy and self-reliant. On their first visit to the pantry, our families are given lots of healthy and easy recipes that they can make from the food we can provide. Also on the first visit (and at any other time it is requested), we have a one-on-one personalized nutritional counseling session with our families.

In addition to the changes with our pantry, we are also starting a new and revolutionary series of budgeting classes. For many families, it is hard to sit with a stranger and talk about debt, money, budgeting, and other personal matters. Instead of this, we have begun to plan Practical Budgeting. Practical Budgeting will be a series of classes based around real-life skills that help to lower bills and make a family more self-reliant. The classes are on cooking (with the help of a dietetics student at the University of Cincinnati), sewing, making homemade gifts, knitting, candy-making, and, of coarse, plain old budgeting. However, the lessons about budgeting and money will be incorporated into the more interesting skills classes.

While our organization is fairly large, the Campbell County Neighborhood Center consists of one paid worker and many volunteers. We have a very small budget that covers our operating expenses and rely on donations to have food and supplies for our families.

We are incredibly excited about the changes in our Center and are optimistic about all the good that they will do in our community. Right now, we are asking for small donations to get this work done.

Donations will be used in the following ways:

- To purchase a greater variety of food for the pantry, including vegetarian, diabetic, whole grain, and organic options.

- To purchase used sewing machines, crock pots, bread makers, and other small appliances for the Practical Budgeting class (ideally, we would raise enough to be able to send folks home with one small appliance per family).

- To purchase supplies such as sewing needles, thread, yarn, knitting needles, fabric, etc for the classes.

- To purchase small items as a “congratulations” for our families, such as movie tickets or tickets to the Newport Aquarium for a family where the parent has reached a substantial goal, such as receiving their GED or reaching one year of steady employment.

- To purchase household items such as laundry detergent, toilet paper, soap, deodorant, etc. These items are not donated very often but are in high demand from our families.

We are a tax-deductible organization and you can receive a receipt for tax purposes. To donate, all you need to do is visit our website (http://www.nkcac.org) . Go to the “donate now” button and make sure to put “Campbell County” in the “designation” line. If you would like to donate to one program in particular, make sure to include that in the designation line as well.

There is certainly no minimum to get involved and every little donation will help us to make these programs the best that they can possibly be.

If you have any ideas, suggestions, questions or comments feel free to email me at bandriacco@nkcac.org or give me a call at 859-431-4177.

As we quickly approach the second year for Scorched Nuts (http://www.scorchednuts.org) we wanted to let you know of a way to benefit the community, the event, and the camping venue. Burners from IN, KY, and OH will be gathering at Hannon's Camp America (the venue for Scorched Nuts) from May 31st to June 1. We'll be camping out (free tent camping, $10 bunk rental if that's your thing), painting signs, digging post holes, building bridges, and ladders into tree houses. This work is mutually beneficial to the community and Hannon's. Come help us foster more community growth and give back. And as always is the case when Burners gather to work, we'll have an amazingly good time.
SN Ticket Changes and Updates

Hey folks, we've been looking over our ticket sales deadlines and have decided to make a couple of quick, and beneficial to the procrastinator, revisions. First, the deadline for mail-in orders has been pushed back to May 31st for the postmarked date. If it's postmarked after that you're check or money order will be sent back in the mail and you'll have to purchase your ticket on-line or with a vendor. Secondly, tickets will be on sale on-line and will vendors until June 12th. After that time you can purchase your tickets at the gate. Also, you have until midnight tonight to purchase a ticket for the $30 price, after that until June 12th tickets will be $40. We've also lowered the gate price to $50. All deadlines, unless otherwise noted, are until 11:59pm of the date listed. Also please note that there has been a gate policy change, there will be NO in-and-out passes this year. Be prepared to come and stay. You will not be permitted to leave and come back once you exit the gates. Thank you.

To summerize:

Mail-in postmark Deadline: May 31st for $40 tickets
On-line/Vendor Deadline: June 12th for $40 tickets
$30 Ticket Deadline (on-line only): May 12th
$40 Ticket Deadline: June 12th
$50 Gate Ticket Sales: June 19th during gate hours - June 21st at 5pm
No leaving once you've arrived.

)*()*()*()*()*()*()*()*()*()*()*()*()*()*()*(

Thank you all for your help and your patience. We hope to see you out at Scorched Nuts, or any of the upcoming events, gatherings, work weekend, etc that we have going on through out the year.

As always, be safe, be happy, and have fun.

We encourage musical acts to include visual or interactive parts to their performance. If you have a vision to be realized in another way, please contact us, we may be able to accommodate you. We want you to help us create a show that Dayton will remember.

When - Feb. 1-3
Where - The Grove (Middletown, OH directions upon request)
How Much - $5

There are no invitations really to the Workshop Weekend. You see a posting about one and you decide to come out. It's just that easy. heeheehee

The workshops are normally 'given' at a set time, however, it's also VERY loose and we run on burner time, so it's a lot of 'ish'.

I think that we're just gonna have two workshops this time around. First, it's winter and we're all a little on the tired side. Secondly, I'm sure that we'll be up to MORE than just the two workshops.

Here's the WW line-up:
Saturday - 2to4pm - Herbal/Medicinal Teas & Tinctures
Saturday - 5to7pm - Digeridoo

Friday and Sunday do not have a scheduled workshop, however, that doesn't mean that we don't have fun, don't learn new things, etc.
Remember if you have electronics questions Tim is more than happy to help and if you have hoop questions, I'm more than happy to help. If you have a hoop, I'd suggest bringing it along, hoops are always welcome and fun.

Okay...some necessities:

$5 to cover workshop costs
Sleeping bag
*Air mattress
Food and/or drink to share
Ideas
Questions

You can come up Friday (Feb. 1st) after 5pm. Even though we don't have any workshops scheduled on Friday it looks like we're gonna be having a Fimo Friday Party. So bring along some Fimo (Sculptey, Premo, etc), any tools you have, and make something out of Fimo with us. There tends to be SOMEthing going on the whole weekend, even if it's just sitting around and talking. The conversations are nothing if not entertaining. :D

See you all SOON!

* Indicates a non-necessity, however, you may be want it. There will be a lot more space in which to crash this time, as opposed to NYE, plus the music won't be as loud or going on for as long. So that'll help with the sleeping.

They have almost double the space as last year!

Also at this time they're sending out a call for people interested in helping out with this all volunteer burning community event. WOOT!!! So not only can you mark your calendars for a kick ass party where you'll meet a ton of fantastic fun people, but you can be one of the rockstars that help put it together. How cool is that!

Resonate was invented to bring all the tribes in the midwest together under one roof! And if the past two years are indication, I'd say that they've DONE it.

All the money (every penny) made at Resonate goes straight back to the community into a fund that supports other activities like, Decomp, Town Hall meetings, BRAF, Art grants, etc... and theirr full $ budget is completely transparent, and is sent out in detail to their announce list!
: ) (To sign up for their announce list send a blank e-mail to: chicago-announce-subscribe@burningman.com )

A call out to artists, performers, and volunteers will be made shortly.

TRIAGE:Activist Art Exhibit: Saturday,6/30,Fountain Square

Hey Everyone,

Thought you might like to know about this. I will have a few things in this exhibit, and I am also one of the Triage planners. Check out this week's issue of NUVO for more info. It's going to be a really cool day of events, featuring activist art, music, poetry, film, and then some. Check it out (and come say 'hi!')

On Saturday, June 30, 2007, Fountain Square will host TRIAGE, an all-ages free indoor/outdoor exhibition of public art in a variety of media: two and three dimensional work, installation, dance, performance art, film, spoken word, and music, all relating to the
interconnected themes of earth, justice and peace. All of the gravest issues our society and environment can be related to this triad of subjects, and this event will bring together a diverse number of very skilled artists.

Over 80 artists, writers and performers will converge on Fountain
Square to deliver their creative and urgent messages on Saturday, June 30, in this free event taking place from 10 am until 6pm. Artists will be spread throughout the Fountain Square area, and a main stage will feature musical acts throughout the day, along with an open drum circle at 3pm and an open mic at 4pm. (It will be moved to the Wheeler Arts building in case of rain.)

Later that evening, Radio Radio will host a benefit concert for the
Hoosier Environmental Council. The evening concert will start at 9pm, and entry is $5.

** Musical acts include: The blackSoil project (pure organic hip-hop), The Sarah Grain Trio (jazz and bossa nova-inspired folk), Men of Many Vices (bluegrass), Kate Lamont (of MabLab/ blueprintmusic), Twilight Sentinels (golden-age hip-hop), Bala vs. Laptop (electronic and African melody), Dance performance by Jaclyn Virgin, Megan Mills and Kevin Wiltz, DJ Spread.

Please check the website www.greentravel.biz/triage
and www.myspace.com/triageindy for updates. Questions, contact: T.J. Reynolds, Triage Coordinator, 317-332-1960 Triageindy@gamail.com .

If it's been a rainy day just keep watch on the weather because if it clears up by 8pm I'll be out there with the hoops. Also, on the first day I'll try to give everyone a card with all my info on it.....just in case.

Obviously bring some water for drinking. You'll get thirsty and I don't want anyone dehydrating.

Wear clothes in which you'll feel comfortable.
If you're late, don't sweat it. If you're early....wait....I might be running late. I'm driving back into town from Gas City....where I work until 7pm....then running home to fill up the water bottle, change clothes, and maybe grab a snack.

Speaking of snacks...you may not want to be full when you hoop. Since the hoop rotates in the gastric area (stomach and abdomen) it may feel uncomfortable. Eat about an half hour before hooping......if you want. This is a personaly judgement call. It's all up to you.
We will present the third in a series of "Digestible Jung" workshops presented by J. Gary Sparks, Jungian Analyst on Saturday March 10, 2007 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. This is about The Self as Synthesis, and will be about the book-Mysterium Coniunctiontis. This interesting and informative workshop on Jung will be held in the same place as the other two previous Digestible Jung workshops have been. This will be free to CIFOJ members. Non-members will cost $40.00 per session. Pre-registration is required. Bring writing materials and a brown bag lunch. Coffee, tea and water provided.
Also we are still proposing starting a CIFOJ lending library. We are asking for donations of Jungian themed books, tapes or videos. They can be extras that you find you have or just donations of books you have read and no longer need. This lending library can be used by the paid members of the CIFOJ. Any donations of books. tapes or videos can be brought to any meeting. The subject matter can be anything that Jung may have written, or discussed or anything that anyone else may have written about him, his interests or his writings.

and a special suprise performance by Solluna
www.myspace.com/palidances

Wayne Hill is likely the longest spinning DJ in the Indianapolis club
scene. He started off in Cincinnati at the legendary Bad Lands in
1978. In those days 'spinning' amounted to a couple of tables, an old
school big knob to cut over to the tracks, and a drum machine for
effects. Most DJ's today have only heard about this original form of
mixing, but Wayne lived it. In 1982 Wayne made a trip over to Indy to
visit the famous Midwest club in Indianapolis called Talbott Street.
Well known for packing them in like sardines, the staff at Talbott,
immediately recognized Wayne from Bad Lands and ushered him to a
private table. That very night he was asked to come back and do a
guest spot, and it was that first guest spot that landed him the
weekend residency at Talbott until they closed in 1985. From there
Wayne has spun long residencies at Our Place, Metro, New York
Connections, and The 501. Well known for his flawless mixing and
cutting edge track selection, Wayne quite easily earned the
reputation of a Class A DJ. In the early 90's he spun at raves all
over the region and did guest spots around the country. A legend in
our own town we welcome Wayne Hill back to Talbott Street for his
first appearance since the club first closed in 1985. Lately Wayne
has been digging electro house, and he is always on top of what is
hot. In his other life Wayne manages the downtown Luna Records and is
as much of a electronic musicologist, as he is a phenomenal DJ.

Mario Florek a.k.a. M Project was born in Poland, on April 19th 1980.
As a child Mario learned to play the drums, then the piano, and
finally the saxophone, giving him a full musical backround growing
up. In highchool Mario met a DJ V who introduced him to the art of
DJing. Mario was instantly hooked and began the well known climb to
achieve attention and deck time in a cut throat city like Chicago.
Chicago, well known for house rather than trance, still books the big
names in the eurodance circuit, however landing a guest spot can be
next to impossible. By 1999 Mario had released a mixed CD that began
landing him those very spots. Today M Project is making an impact on
the electronic-trance music scene & has no intention of stopping. M
Project has held notable night club residencies & appeared in other
special events in most of Chicago's nightclubs including: Vision,
SpyBar, Energy and so on. Mario has played along side the world's top
DJs including: Ferry Corsten, Blank & Jones, ATB, Gabriel & Dresden &
many more! His smooth & pure style of tech-trance will definitely
make you jump, & keeps the crowd wanting & chanting for more. After
the big success of his mixed CD compilation "Trance Visions" exploded
onto the scene, be prepared for his next, "TRANCEWIRED-HARDWIRED",
the ultimate journey into the world of tech trance music! We welcome
M Project, one of Chicago's best trance and tech-trance DJ's to
Talbott Street for his first appearance in Indianapolis.

Okay, since the downtown development team don't seem to understand what a website is best used for (ie putting up useful information of what is going on...prices, activities, etc) I won't be giving you all a link. However, here in Muncie, IN on Feb. 17th we will be having our annual (4th? 5th?) Muncie Gras celebration. Last year I believe it was $10. There are two outdoor stages, one large one small. Walnut street in downtown Muncie is cordened off for about 3 to 4 blocks. There are vendors selling drinks, baubles, food, and more. There's normally even a mechanical bull.

I'm not sure about arrangements at this point in time. While I live in a house LARGE enough to house 20+ people semi-comfortably, that may not be an option. My friend Spencer will have some room, but it's limited and going fast, so a hotel room may be in order.....and conviently there is one downtown ( http://travel.yahoo.com/p-hotel-328554-radisson_hotel_roberts-i ) that I would suggest for an easy get-away. If enough out of towners show an interest in getting a suite that may be something that we can arrange for, and it would be kind of fun.....at least for all us single folk.

Also, if you are a performer and are planning on coming, let me know. The Fickle Peach, a local bar....my fav....especially since I know the owners pretty damned well and drink there whenever I'm out.......have a booth this year and would like performers (fire/glow/etc) to perform by their booth. This would mean free admittance, some free drinks (beers), and a way to share your talent with the folks of Muncie. Just let me know what you'll need (safety/space), if you'll be doing fire or glow, etc. I'll be doing my LED hoop, if all goes well. I still have to practice a bit more before it's there there there.

So....this is closer, is NOT burner oriented, but that normally doesn't stop me from making it out to it, and it's just another way to hang and have fun with some great people. So there's the info....as much as I know. I would love to see some of you out.

So, this year we're working on a camp that will consist of a double dome design (one dome for the public and one for our private camp use with a fire barrell....which would heat the public dome during the evening), a stage for performances of any kind (if you want to contribute a poem, a dance, a play, etc....do, do, do it), and at least one effigy contribution (we're workin' on designs and procession plans at this time). Now, if you're wanting/planning/hoping to go and would like to camp with others from the upper midwest/great lakes area, just let me know. Also, if you want to contribute to any of the above projects, again, let me know....same with questions, comments, and critiques. Oh....and if you want to stay with us, but aren't able to be there the whole time....don't worry one bit about it...we'll make sure that you have a space to call your own.

Entertaintment for the Night:

Danny Byrd - Hospital :: London, UK (DnB)

Getting into hardcore when he was barely out of short trousers (and too young to gain entry to anywhere playing it), Danny Byrd started spending all his pocket money on 12"s and cheap add-ons for his Atari computer. It was 1993, and Danny firmly believed that jungle would take over the world. Danny Byrd is the man to twist R B flavours into rolling soul music for the drum bass community worlwide. Whether its his own homegrown blues or the occassional rework of a American accapella, Danny has the singular vision to shape the new school of vocal drum bass. He takes as much inspiation from garage, hip-hop and r b, as from jungle and breakbeat. Like De La said,"I think it's time we returned to the Soul". Danny's the man for the job.

Basic Operations - Hospital :: North Carolina (DnB)

Just like that, the North Carolina-based duo known as Basic Operations is everywhere. No matter what the vibe, Nathan Sirus Hayes and Kevin Focus Jekel seem to have mastered that elusive alchemical process where everything
they touch turns to gold. With support pouring in from Goldie, Fabio, Photek, Calibre, and LTJ Bukem, Their constant and prodigious output has been catching like wild fire worldwide. On the verge of launching their newly minted Contemporary Imprint, the crew hopes to showcase relative newcomers like Random Movement, Chino, Dstar, Mathematics alongside well known heads like Total Science, Marky, Zero Tolerance, Big Bud and Holdtight. Of Course, keep an eye out for future cuts from the Basic Ops crew on imprints like Metalheadz, Hospital, CIA, Liquid V, Renegade, Industry, and Creative Source. As promised the best is yet to come!

I'm from Indy. Folks in Indiana (a red state for 20 years now) should be very aware of the following information before we turn ourselves into a religious right Theocracy.

-----

Congressional Petition:

Friends, here are 4 excellent videos that highlight what is going on in America & the US government today. All 4 of these educational videos are so important that they must be a mandatory view for all Congressmen & women, US politicians, US Court Justices etc.

Folks must realize that accuracy, transparency, facts & evidence do not equate to religious intolerance. We have both a right & a responsibility to demand all of those attributes when it comes to our most cherished beliefs. We must unite & demand accuracy & transparency in religion & government before it's to late. An open & honest discussion on the topic of religion is still taboo in America. This must change. We have a lot to learn very quickly & one good way to catch-up is to view these 4 videos that explain it very well.

“Religious freedom is one thing,” says Joan Bokaer, director of TheocracyWatch, a project of the Center for Religion, Ethics, and Social Policy (CRESP) at Cornell University. “But religious extremism is something completely different. What people aren’t aware of is just how deeply the radical religious right has penetrated our government—in all three branches. We really are very close to becoming a theocracy. People have reason to be worried.”

The next movie has been astounding audiences in theaters around the world is now available on DVD. In this provocative, critically acclaimed documentary, you will discover:

- The early founders of Christianity seem wholly unaware of the idea of a human Jesus

- The Jesus of the Gospels bears a striking resemblance to other ancient heroes and the figureheads of pagan savior cults

- Contemporary Christians are largely ignorant of the origins of their religion

- Fundamentalism is as strong today as it ever has been, with an alarming 44% of Americans believing Jesus will return to earth in their lifetimes

Movie # 3 - http://www.thegodmovie.com/

Movie # 4 - "Suns of God" - DVD with Acharya S. explains how Solar Mythology & Astrotheology has played a vital role in ALL religions & cultures worldwide. Stories found in the Bible, including the Jesus Story (also Khrishna, Horus, Orpheus, Bacchus, Osiris, Dionysus, Buddha, Apollo, Hercules, Adonis, Ormuzd, Mithras, Indra, Quetzalcoatle & more) originated as allegories for natural phenomena, such as the Sun's annual circular journey along the ecliptic through the twelve constellations of the Zodiac and the corresponding passage of the seasons of the year. These numerous godmen were not similar "historical" personages who "walked the earth" but anthropomorphizations of the SUN. With over 100 photos of artifacts, this is a must have.

Are the taxes horrible? Is it ridden with crime? What am I missing?

The same company ownes them. Basically, I get to watch Friends, Simpsons and Raymond clips all day long and edit them into a commercial that will make you want to watch. Really, it's harder than you think. Though, I'm admit it's hard to call this work... LOL

Married, though the wife and kid aren't here, yet. Didn't want to take the kid out of school so late in the school year. Residing in SE Carmel or NNE Indy depending on how you look at it.

Looking to meet some friends to help alleviate the boredom of an empty apartment without cable... Beer is always welcome :)
